WE NEED FRIENDS !   Friends is an association of people who value the ministry of Edenham Regional House (ERH), and gives friendship and spiritual support to those who visit. We desire to see this ministry enriched and strengthened.    We support the house and its ministry in many ways and would value your help in:   Prayers ~ Time and Talents ~ Fund Raising ~ Donations Prayers   We support the house and all the people involved in its ministry and organisation in prayer, particularly the family home of Andrew and Sian Hawes and their children. We are very fortunate to have this unique combination of prayer, community and family. If you would like to become involved in praying for God's will and direction in all that happens at the house, please contract Reverend Andrew Hawes.

Time and Talents

At various stages of our lives we have different amounts of time and talents that we are able to give in the service of others. If you would like to help the house, we need volunteers in the following areas:

Creative Days

The house is a place for recreation and renewal. The beauty of the place set in a pastoral landscape with the majesty of the parish church lends itself to an opportunity to heal, recreate and renew ourselves with God. If you have talents to offer with art, music, poetry, flowers, cooking, painting, etc, it may be possible to use them to further the work of the house.

Cooking

We have a number of people who help provide meals for the house for quiet days and meetings. There are various ways of giving, some people cook on their own, some with a friend, some provide the food free, others claim the costs. Some help once a year, some help every moth. All help is welcome!

Flower Rota

Several Friends are very gifted flower arrangers and have organised a rota for flowers in the house. New Friends are always welcome to join the rota.

Book Stall

The House sells books, cards and small gifts in aid of the house. If you make suitable gifts, or would like to help in any way, let us know.

Garden/House

The house has regular staff but if you feel particularly gifted in this area or would like to help, please let us know.

Fund Raising and Money

The house is a Chartable Trust and funded solely by donation. The Trustees of the House delegate day to day running of the House to the Management Committee which is a representative body.

One purpose of the Friends is to help raise money to provide extras such as new chairs, books, cutlery, the summer house etc., things to make it more enjoyable and comfortable for the people who use it. We try to raise £2,000 each year to help the house via:

Annual Subscription

Cheques/cash sent the Treasurer of the House for however much you feel is appropriate. £10 is the usual amount given; some give more and others give in ‘time and talents, not money. You can be a Friend without giving money!

Bankers' Order

Gift Aid

If you pay income tax, you may wish to Gift Aid your donations. The scheme enables the House to claim back 28 pence for every £ received. A simple form to enable this is available from the House. Click here for text to print on envelopes for gift aid donation or click here for A4 gift aid form 

Friends also raise money for the House by donating gifts and fund raising activities. At the Friends Day/Evening each June we discuss the needs of the House and plan activities for the year. This can involve Cheese & Wine evenings, Suppers, Music concerts, Cake Stalls, Car Boot Sales, Gift Fairs, Garden Fetes etc. The event can be big or small, run at the House or by an individual or group of Friends. Anything is possible and all help and donations are welcome.

When you become a Friend you will receive a newsletter with the events of the House, social and fundraising activities etc twice a year.
